Overall this one was not my favorite, and I’m not sure if I will continue this series.Empire of Ruin is the heart-pounding final installment in the Dirty Broken Savages series. But both performances were well done, and there was some great emotion here. A little more to make the male voice sound a little different. I liked them though I do wish that Daniel James Lewis did. The narrators, Cassandra Medcalf and Daniel James Lewis, were both new to me. I’m not sure if I will read more in this series though the ending of this does make me want to continue. I would have liked a little more story, personally. There was a lot of steam in this book, and for a lot of the book, the plot took a backseat to the steam. I felt like she was one-dimensional, and I think having her back story earlier would have helped. However, while I liked the guys, for the most part, River didn’t do much for me. Kings of chaos felt very simmer to Den of Vipers, the guys in both were very similar, and though the story is not the same, there are some parallels.
